A brief Note on Taxonomy
We struggled with the taxonomy of this page and for that matter the site overall, quite a bit. We realize that in business, nothing happens unless the cash register rings. We should accordingly adopt a taxonomy based on Market and Business Model. But we chose Operations instead. Our reasoning was threefold: (i) Most of the non IT Digital Transformation literature we found, focused on Customer Experience and Business Model but not that much was found on Operations.(ii) While comparative advantage in new niches can command price premiums, competition is inevitable and the larger margin capture opportunites from Digital Transformation lie in Operations, with some exceptions. Finally, (iii) the learning curve needed to go from blue ocean to viability is in operations mostly and in particular for B2B which is where our competencies mostly are.

Discussions in this category are intended to focus on B2B ecommerce in this sector particularly for grain trading, fertilizer, farm machinery, food logistics, wholesale and distribution of food & kindred products.
